Pastoral Support

At Radwinter,  we understand that every child’s wellbeing and happiness are central to their ability to flourish. Our pastoral support is designed to nurture and care for each child in a secure, loving environment where they feel valued and supported to grow both emotionally and socially. This commitment reflects our Christian vision of “Growing and learning together to embrace life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).

Our Dedicated Pastoral Support Team
Our Pastoral Leader, Mrs Hibbs, plays a vital role in providing tailored support to children who maybe experiencing emotional or behavioural challenges. She specialises in working with dysregulated children, helping them to manage their emotions and develop positive coping strategies in a calm and caring manner.

Supporting Children Through Specialist Clubs

To ensure children feel safe and supported throughout the school day, we offer:

  • Cosy Club: Available during some lunchtimes, this welcoming space acts as a peaceful haven for children who may find unstructured times overwhelming or challenging. It’s a nurturing environment where children can relax, reflect, and receive gentle support.
  • Get Set and Go Club: We recognise that some children find the start of the school day difficult. This club provides a soft start to the day, giving children the time and space to settle in gradually, helping to ease anxieties and promote a positive beginning to their learning.
  • Therapeutic Forest Sessions: For children needing extra social or emotional support, we offer therapeutic forest sessions within our beautiful outdoor environment. These sessions use the calming and restorative power of nature to help children develop resilience, improve social skills, and manage their emotions in a supportive, hands-on setting.

Supporting Families and Staff

Pastoral care at Radwinter CofE Primary School extends beyond the children themselves. Mrs Hibbs also works closely with families and groups of children to provide holistic support that strengthens home-school partnerships.

We are committed to ensuring our staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support children’s wellbeing effectively. Through regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training, we maintain best practice approaches and ensure that all staff understand and can deliver the pastoral care our children need.

Our Values in Action
Our pastoral support is deeply rooted in our school values of fairness, forgiveness, kindness, respect, and service. These values guide our approach to care, ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met with compassion and dignity. By fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment, we help all children to feel part of the Radwinter family, celebrating diversity and encouraging them to embrace life in all its fullness.

How We Can Help You and Your Child

If you feel your child could benefit from additional pastoral support, or if you would like to find out more about our pastoral programmes, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Hibbs or the school office. We are here to listen, support, and work with you to ensure your child’s wellbeing is prioritised every step of the way.
