Sport Ambassadors

At Radwinter CofE (VA) Primary School, a Church of England Voluntary Aided School, we are proud to offer our Year 6 children the opportunity to become Sports Ambassadors. This special role empowers our eldest children to take on leadership responsibilities that promote physical activity, healthy living, and teamwork throughout the school community.

What is a Sports Ambassador?

A Sports Ambassador is a child leader who embodies the values and skills developed through our comprehensive PE curriculum. These ambassadors:

  • Encourage their peers to participate actively in sports and physical activities
  • Lead by example by demonstrating commitment, respect, and enthusiasm for healthy lifestyles
  • Organise and support school sports events and activities, helping to foster a vibrant and inclusive sporting culture

This role is not just about sport; it reflects our core Christian values of fairness, kindness, forgiveness, respect, and service. Our ambassadors serve as role models who inspire others to embrace life in all its fullness, as expressed in our vision and the teaching of Jesus (John 10:10).

How Sports Ambassadors Reflect Our Vision and Values

Our vision, “Growing and learning together to embrace life in all its fullness,” is at the heart of the Sports Ambassador programme. Through leadership and teamwork, ambassadors help create a caring, happy, and secure environment where every child feels valued and motivated to flourish.

  • Teamwork and respect: Ambassadors work collaboratively with staff and pupils, showing respect for all abilities and encouraging inclusivity.
  • Leadership and service: They take responsibility for organising activities and supporting others, demonstrating service to the school community.
  • Wellbeing and happiness: By promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles, ambassadors contribute to the wellbeing and happiness of all children.

The Impact of Sports Ambassadors

Our Sports Ambassadors help to build a positive culture of health and fitness within the school. Their enthusiasm encourages children from all backgrounds to get involved, supporting our commitment to ensuring no child feels excluded or marginalised.

For example, ambassadors have successfully led initiatives such as:

  • Organising lunchtime sports clubs that welcome children of all abilities
  • Leading warm-up sessions before PE lessons and school sports days
  • Supporting inter-school sports competitions and encouraging team spirit

Summary

Our Year 6 Sports Ambassadors play a vital role in bringing our vision and values to life through leadership, teamwork, and service. By promoting physical activity and healthy living, they help every child at Radwinter CofE Primary School to embrace life in all its fullness, growing and learning together in a caring and inclusive community.
